Studied at San Alejandro National School of Arts (1977) and Superior Institute of Art, Havana (1982). His work was awarded several times in nationals and internationals events as the First Havana Biennial, the Cuenca Biennial (Ecuador) and the Caribbean Biennial (Dominican Republic). He was part of the Cuban representation at the XX Sao Paulo Biennial. Tutua Boshell

Tutua Boshell nació en Bogotá el 21 de Marzo de 1950. Finalizó su Bachillerato en el colegio Marymount de Medellín, Colombia en 1966. Al año siguiente viajó a Paris donde obtuvo su diploma de Lengua y civilización Francesa. En 1968 estudió en la Universidad Javeriana. Contrajo matrimonio con Enrique Alvarado en 1969. En la decada de los setenta estudió en el Taller del Maestro David Manzur y en 1979 abrio su propio taller en Bogota en donde trabajo en pintura y escultura. Colaboró durante varios años en la Junta Directiva de la Cooperativa de Artes Plasticas de Bogotá y enseñó grabado en su taller como parte del programa de la cooperativa.

En los años noventa viajó a Italia en tres oportunidades para trabajar en Pietrasanta en donde realizó algunas esculturas en marmol, en bronce y en madera que posteriormente exhibio en Bogotá.

Boshell ha sido invitada a participar en varios Salones Nacionales de Artistas Colombianos así como en exposiciones colectivas tales como el Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, la Biblioteca Luis Angel Arango de Bogotá, el Museo de Uccle en Bruselas .

En 1999 Tutua Boshell se translada a vivir en la ciudad de Miami. Ingreso a la Universidad de Miami en donde obtuvo su BFA. Posteriormente obtuvo en el año 2009 su Maestría en Pintura bajo la dirección del Maestro Darby Bannard en la misma Universidad. Realizó varias exposiciones en el Museo Lowe de Coral Gables en donde obtuvo dos premios en Pintura.

La pintura de Tutua Boshell es fundamentalmente abstracta. La percepción de la luz es la fuente de su trabajo. Sus lienzos son trabajados en capas de pintura aplicada con rodillo de pared creando superficies texturadas de color que son su motivación principal. Su trabajo proviene de los expresionistas abstractos americanos en donde la luz y la transparencia son factores críticos. Su trabajo esta representado en la Galería Arte Consultores de Bogotá.

Tutua Boshell actualmente vive y trabaja entre Miami y Bogotá. Sus dos hijos Alejandro y Camilo, sus nietos Sebastian, Pablo y Valentina viven en Bogotá.

Romero Britto

A modern day pop culture icon, Romero Britto creates contemporary masterpieces that evoke a spirit of hope and convey a sense of warmth.

Humberto Calzada

Humberto Calzada was born in Cuba in 1944 and has lived in the United States since 1960. In 1966 he received a degree in Industrial Engineering, followed by an MBA in Finance (1968) from the University of Miami. He began painting in 1972 and since 1976 has dedicated his time exclusively to painting.

His work has been said to carry on the classical Latin American artistic tradition: dreamlike realism, tension created by the contrast between calm and conflict, and the use of timeless symbols as a universal language.

Throughout his career, he has applied these themes through architectural imagery. He depicts harmony through the use of natural elements, and he depicts conflict through the opposition of the ephemeral movement of light and water against the static force of stone and glass

Mariadilia Caracas

Nacida en Boaco, Nicaragua, Mariadilia Martínez es una artista con prestigio internacional. Poeta, escritora, conferencista y pintora. Ha escrito tres libros de los cuales, publico en el 2007 “CESAR CARACAS: El arte no se puede someter”, presentado con mucho éxito en la Feria Internacional del Libro de Miami, el cual es la biografia de su esposo el pintor y muralista Cesar Caracas. Comenzó a pintar desde que era una niña, especializandose en el paisaje de su tierra natal de lagos y colinas en pleno esplendor con flores multicolores, campos cultivados, y las casitas con techos de tejas de las pequeñas ciudades.

Mariadilia capta y embellece en oleos y acrilicos la belleza pura de los campos que no han sido contaminados por la destrucción industrial, y con increible atención por el detalle, representa la vida diaria de la gente que trabaja y vive de la tierra. Cada pintura cuenta una historia llevando la imaginación del espectador a su pais natal.

Mariadilia se trasladó de Nicaragua a New York en 1958, luego Los Angeles, California, en donde continuó sus estudios de artes e ingles desde 1960 hasta 1968 y luego de regresar por algunos años a Nicaragua, volvio a Estados Unidos, en 1986 fijando su residencia en Miami, junto a su familia.

En 1996, Mariadilia fué galardonada como una de las “Doce Mujeres Nicaragüenses mas destacadas en el Estado de la Florida”, y tambien recibió un certificado de Reconocimiento por el Gobierno del Condado de Miami-Dade. Mariadilia ha participado en numerosas exhibiciones en Europa, Centro y Sur América y los Estados Unidos.

Jorge Cavelier

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, December 1953.

After a brief incursion in architecture and a year of painting in New York University, New York, NY., Jorge Cavelier traveled to study in Florence, Italy, in the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze where he finished his BFA in 1982. Returning to Colombia the same year he founded “Trazo” an open studio in Bogotá; he worked and taught painting techniques there until 1987. After 1988 he painted in his private studio in Colombia, until June 1999, the year he was kidnapped by the guerrilla group “FARC” in Colombia. Released in 2000, he traveled to the U.S. where he decided to migrate. After being granted with an “extraordinary ability” permanent residence visa, he relocated in the city of Key Biscayne, Florida, where he has been living and working for the last 9 years.

He has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions since 1977, in Bogotá and Santa Marta, Colombia; New York and South Hampton, NY, U.S.; Miami and Talahassee, FL, U.S.; Atlanta, GA. U.S.; Quito, Ecuador; Lima, Perú, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Montevideo, Uruguay; Caracas, Venezuela. Seravezza, Florence, and Rome, Italy; Tokyo, Japan; Pretoria, South Africa.

His first sculpture series came to light in 2007. Exhibitions of his works where showed in Miami, FL in 2007 and Bogotá, Colombia, in 2008. Nowadays he works in his series of paintings and sculptures “Labyrinths”, to be showed in private and public spaces in Colombia and the U.S.

Jorge Cavelier was initiated in Kriya Yoga on August 1st 2009.

Edwin Gil

Edwin Gil nació el 11 de diciembre de 1971 en Itagüí, Colombia. Recibió su título en administración de negocios y comenzó sus estudios de psicología en la ciudad de Medellín. En 2000, por la pérdida de un ser querido a causa de la violencia y al ver su seguridad en peligro, Gil se vio forzado a dejar Colombia y radicarse en los Estados Unidos. El se sumergió en la pintura como parte de su proceso de recuperación emocional. Después de una corta estadía en Miami, Gil se estableció en Charlotte, Carolina del Norte, donde no sólo se ganó el respeto y la admiración por su arte, sino también por su envolvimiento con la comunidad hispana.

Autodidacta, Gil ha trabajado con sus grandes maestros colombianos como Héctor Favio Castaño quien, como lo expresó el pintor Jorge Botero Luján cuando Gil inició su carrera artística, "alimentó su espíritu con el sucio mundo del arte". Gil ve su arte como el dibujo de tres líneas paralelas que son las razones por la que él pinta: por diversión, por amor y por la vida. Algunas de sus extraordinarias exposiciones incluyen "Amigos", "Tendencies", "Scars", "100%", y la más reciente, “Positive Art”.

Como residente de los EE.UU., Gil ha completado varios proyectos alrededor del país y es responsable de la formación de varios grupos sin fin de lucro en Charlotte, Carolina del Norte como de Con 'A' de Arte y Art Sí a través de la Biblioteca Pública de Charlotte y el Condado de Mecklenburg. Dos de sus más grandes proyectos de participación comunitaria son, "Home Sweet Home" y "Nuestra Bandera, Nuestro País, Nuestro Hogar".

A lo largo de los años, Gil ha ganado el reconocimiento internacional. Recibió el "Premio Nueva Generación" y el "Premio Huella Colombiana en el Exterior" por sus esfuerzos en la creación de una imagen positiva de Colombia en los Estados Unidos. Por su trabajo innovador como artista y su objetivo de unir a los colombianos desplazados alrededor del mundo a través del arte, Gil fue reconocido en el 2009 como uno de los Latinos del Año por la Agencia EFE. Este grupo selecto incluyó personalidades como la juez de la Corte Suprema de Justicia Sonia Sotomayor y el periodista Jorge Ramos. En el mes de noviembre, Gil logró estar en la portada de South Park Magazine. Esta publicación de renombre en la ciudad de Charlotte, dedicó algunas de sus páginas a este artista que comenzó su crecimiento artístico en la ciudad de la reina.

Este año, Gil presentará el proyecto "Nuestra Bandera, Nuestro País, Nuestro Hogar", un enorme lienzo (70 'x 36'), que incluye las huellas de manos de miles de sus compatriotas que viven fuera de Colombia, al presidente Álvaro Uribe durante la celebración del bicentenario de Colombia en julio de 2010. Más tarde, esta pieza de arte será colocada en el museo de la Memoria en Medellín.

Julio Larraz

Julio Larraz was born in Havana, Cuba, on 12 March 1944. The son of a newspaper publisher, he began to draw at a very early age. In 1961 his parents moved to Miami, Florida, taking the whole family with them. In 1962 they moved to Washington, D.C., and in 1964 to New York City, where Larraz lived for the next five years. There he began to draw political caricatures which were published by the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune and Vogue magazine, among others.

In 1967 Larraz began working full time as a painter. He credits several New York artists, including Burt Silverman, for teaching him various painting techniques.

In 1971 his first solo exhibition was held at the Pyramid Galleries in Washington, D.C.

In 1972 he had an exhibition at the New School for Social Research in New York. A year later, his paintings were shown at the FAR Gallery in New York.

In 1976 he won awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the National Institute of Arts and Letters. The same year he was also awarded the Cintas Grant from the Institute of International Education.

A year later Larraz moved to San Patricio, New Mexico, fascinated by the light and atmosphere of the barren hills of the Hondo Valley. It was there that he met Ron Hall, his future dealer, who is based in

Texas. In 1978 Larraz bought a house in Grandview, New York. There he met Nohra Haime whose New York gallery represented him until 1994. In 1983 he moved to Paris, remaining there for two years.

He is currently by Marlrborough Gallery, and Galleria DArte Contini in Italy.

He now lives with his family in Miami Florida after living in Florence Italy for three years. Julio Larraz is best known for his precise and detailed technique, his imagination, and his unique subtle touch, all of which have helped affirm his reputation as one of the most important contemporary Latin American painters.

Gustavo Marino

As an artist Gustavo used this inspiration primarily in textile design, which he worked for 7 years. He cultivated the medium of tapestries and weaving using earth tones and various types of textures to create his individual design that has influenced his current work. In the 80’s, Gustavo received his B.A in Art and Communication from Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogotá.

While at the University, he also studied photography and advertising. Gustavo moved to the United States in 1981, where he continued his education in art techniques and anatomical drawing. He keeps on exploring new techniques of texture, color and composition to establish his own distinctive style.

Recently he had been invited to participate in the Biennale Internazionale Dell’ Arte Contemporaneo – 2003 in Firenze Italy and Art Miami 2003 Galleria Pluma – Bogota.

Tata Navia’s search for the essential has bred figurative responses and reflects a desire for the every specific. The artist focuses her work on simple objects and characters representing them in intimate harmony and tension. Her work also focuses on space, where she builds upon to rate a particular language.

She prefers to employ traditional materials to support and showcase her work. Gustavo OcampoSilva

Gus Ocamposilva, a contemporary Colombian born artists, studied murals at the Massana School of Barcelona and painting procedures at Barcelona University in Spain.

Ocamposilva's paintings and sculptures are interpretations of the world he was raised, in a world filled with great diversity of colors, where the most difficult times served as inspiration to fortify the spirit, his experience as a student in Europe and now as a resident of the United States provide additional inspiration for his dynamic works.

Victoria Quijano

Quijano is a recognized artist who has worked foremost in abstract painting. She has also experimented successfully in glasswork design. The theme of much of her work introduces us to the native South American Indian, whose unique myths and beliefs include the shaman. Although born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, since 1986 Quijano has resided in Wiesbaden, Germany. Her work has been exhibited in galleries throughout Colombia and Germany and worldwide in cities including Miami, Florida, Guayaquil, Ecuador, Oslo, Norway, and Krems, Austria.

Quijano studied art at the David Manzur Art School in Bogotá (1974-1978) and later at the University of Mainz Art School (1988-1994).

FERNANDO DE SZYSZLO, ha realizado numerosas exposiciones individuales de su obra. Su obra está representada en muchas colecciones públicas como el Museo de Arte de Lima, el Instituto de Arte Contemporáneo de Lima, el Museo de las Américas en Washington, Museo de Arte Moderno de México, el Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá, el Guggenheim Museum de New York, el Museo de Bellas Artes de Caracas, el Museo de Arte Moderna de Rio de Janeiro, el Museo Rufino Tamayo de México, el Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach, California.

En 1997 fue elegido miembro de la Academia Peruana de la Lengua, ese mismo año recibió la condecoración Bernardo O’Higgings del gobierno de Chile. El año 2000 le fue otorgada la Orden del Sol por el Estado peruano. En el 2001 la República Francesa le otorgó la Orden de las Artes y las Letras en el grado de Officier.

En el año 2001 tuvo una retrospectiva en la Maison de l´Amerique Latine en Paris
